EVENT DESCRIPTION

The BID FAREWELL, the largest farewell showcase of Szabotage will be proudly presented at the SHOUT Art Hub and Gallery of Hong Kong this November. The artist’s largest exhibition of works to date, the prolific show displays over 40 original artworks and is Szabotage’s final gift to Hong Kong before he moves on to new adventures. This, free to attend, unique auction-based retrospective mega-show offers everyone the chance to bid (farewell) on a Szabotage artwork, with the highest bids winning an artwork.

In this exhibition, artworks from his collections True Reflections, Urban Observations, Can Can, Stencil Addiction, Life Got Real, and Return to Sender plus an exclusive selection of 16 new digital artworks will be exhibited and available for auction.

Szabotage will also host two exclusive stencil workshops during the show, where lucky guests will receive a demonstration and an interactive experience with the opportunity to spray their own stencil language masterpiece. He will also give guided tours all bookable online and prior registration is essential.

The exhibition celebrates Szabotage’s prolific, eight-year creative journey in Hong Kong, depicting the city through his eyes. The masterpieces encompass the artist’s deep love for this extraordinary place and its iconic symbols, humour, popular culture, as well as Szabotage’s notorious koi fish and infamous stencil language. Works are bright, buoyant celebrations of colorful energy and attitude.

Auction bids will be accepted over the three week duration of the show, with final bids sealed at 8pm on 23rd November at the closing party.

ABOUT THE ARTIST / ORGANISER

About Szabotage
Szabotage is a British designer, notorious street artist, and a recognized, highly prolific, contemporary artist. Szabotage relocated to Hong Kong and found fame in the local and international art world. Since then, he has exhibited internationally in sold-out solo shows, and worked on numerous collaborative, commercial, and private projects. He is distinguished as the first artist in Hong Kong to list NFTs.

Szabotage began with the spray can, and branched out into innumerable forms of media. The artist’s work celebrates the diversity of his inspirations and media formats throughout his collections. Szabotage is best recognised by his signature Koi fish - an iconic symbol of strength, adversity and good fortune which features frequently throughout his work. He has mastered a visual language through the development of layered stencils, which has become his distinctive style. His classic stencil work is spiced with humour, wordplay, and iconic cultural references.

Szabotage has painted for the HK Walls Street Art Festival, was a finalist in the global phenomenon Secret Walls, and has given a TED X talk ‘Resilience is the Ultimate High’. Commissioned clients include Louis Vuitton, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Deutsche Bank, Evisu, Prada, and The Ritz Carlton.
